From 8 to 10 September 2025 the University of Bonn played host to the annual meeting of the German Association for Provenance Research (Arbeitskreis Provenienzforschung e.V. - https://www.arbeitskreis-provenienzforschung.org/). FPK members Lucy Wasensteiner, Christoph Zuschlag and Matthias Weller were among the 6-person organising team in Bonn.
The conference attempted to bring together new perspectives from a range of academic and professional disciplines, and from a range of historical contexts, into dialogue. Panels considered, among others, how we can define ‘contexts of injustice’, new methods for conducting and communicating provenance research, the move towards normativity in restitution and what the future might hold for provenance research in the face of growing right-wing political movements.
We were delighted to welcome over 200 participants at the Kunstmuseum Bonn, from all over the world, and over 150 more to the live stream.
